Greetings from Cape Shore,
I want to update you on Cape Shore’s continued response to the trade war and its effects on our business relationship.
You received a letter last week implementing a 25% surcharge on new orders beginning June 1, 2025.
The news from Monday announced a 90 day pause, and in place of the 145% tariff, there remains a 30% tariff. This pause is indeed helpful, but we cannot eliminate the tariff surcharge just yet. A 30% tariff rate is still hundreds of thousands of dollars in additional taxes.
Effective Monday, May 12th orders placed after April 14th but have not shipped, will incur a 10.5% tariff surcharge.
We will continue to communicate, adapt, and be flexible as we navigate this economic climate. It is not our intention to use these tariff surcharges to our benefit. They remain a necessity until the trade war has ended.
Thank you always for supporting Cape Shore, and please reach out if you have questions, comments, or concerns.
Sincerely,
Mike Perfetti and the Team

Dear Cape Shore Customers,
I want to update you on Cape Shore’s ongoing response to the trade war and its effects on our business.
Uncertainty about the tariffs continues. Unfortunately, if the current rate of 145% stays in effect, we will increase the tariff surcharge on new orders beginning June 1, 2025 to 25%.
At Cape Shore, we fully understand the impact this is having on our industry and economy. Should the tariff rates come back down, we will make the corresponding adjustments. I believe we all want this to pass as quickly as possible and are hopeful it will.
Please reach out to our team if you have questions, comments, or concerns.

Greetings Cape Shore Retailers and Sales Partners,
Let no one say we do not live in interesting times. What follows is a brief update regarding Cape Shore’s response to the economic uncertainty in U.S. international trading relationships. We had hoped that this action would not be necessary until the fall, and perhaps never if the issues were resolved.
However, given the speed and scope of the tariffs, we regret we must enact the following policy sooner rather than later. Cape Shore simply cannot afford to absorb the full cost of the tariffs AND continue to supply you with great products and service (which we have done since 1946!). The new policy is as follows:
- Effective Monday, April 14, all orders in-house at Cape Shore will include a 7% tariff fee (regardless of the date the order was placed).
- Effective Monday, April 14, all NEW orders placed on and after this date will include a 15% tariff fee.
Should the tariffs change at any time, we reserve the right to adjust surcharges accordingly. This applies to orders already written and/or quoted as well as future orders.
As always, our team at Cape Shore is committed to our retail partners and will do everything within our control to lessen the effects of these policies and navigate this volatile marketplace with you. Despite these challenges, we will continue to purchase inventory to supply you in the coming months. Flexibility, adaptability, and patience will be key attributes during this period.
Sincerely,
Mike, Sara, and the Cape Shore Team
